CP PLUS Secures Container Corporation of India
Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) is a Navratna Public sector undertaking under the Indian Ministry of Railways is the leader in the field of Containerized Multimodal Logistics Services in India. Incorporated in March 1988, CONCOR commenced operations in November 1989 taking over an existing network of seven inland container depots (ICDs) from Indian Railways. It now has a network of 61 ICDs/CFSs (Container Freight Stations) throughout India.
The security has been major concern for a big business enterprise like CONCOR India where thousands of tons of items are loaded from their terminals. The containers carry valuable and perishable items across various locations in India. It is an absolute requirement to transfer and deliver the materials safely and without damage. The surveillance was required at container terminals to view, monitor, and record the loading and unloading activities. Besides, live coverage of these activities has to be accessed by authorized officials on their PCs and Laptops.
Challenges and Solution
The challenges included identification of locations where cameras could be installed to leverage the benefits of video surveillance. The areas where video surveillance was required to be installed were warehouse area, custom points, packaging area, perimeter, office etc.
The comprehensive and tailor made solutions from CP PLUS protect critical infrastructure and value assets across domains, with its rugged quality controls, reliable products and optimum solutions to get the best. With their vast experience of deployment, CP PLUS experts designed suitable solution for various areas in CONCOR area. CP PLUS IP solutions provided flexibility and scalability to the solution. The HD solution helped the officials to track movements closely with the capability to verify and recognize the persons and the objects including vehicles. The image quality is superior and hardly induces any image distortion even when magnified. The Video Management Software (VMS) used was vOptimus Pro with features of face detection, license number detection features, video content analytics, smart search, remote accessibility. Besides a central monitoring control room was equipped with LED monitors, where all locations can be monitored and alerts can be raised in case of any security breach. Since the area to be monitored was wide and large, the team deployed IP PTZ cameras, as they were able to scan wide areas, zoom in on hard to see targets, and get any shot security persons can think of within a very wide range of angles and space.

The system has been working efficiently and proving its worth by leveraging the benefits of the surveillance. The parametric surveillance is an effective deterrent for the undesirable people loitering in the nearby areas. The situational surveillance has improved to a great extent.
The loading and unloading points video monitoring has improved staff engagement and quality of work. The officials now have first hand and updated information on inventory, arrival and departure of goods. The perishable items are handled with a greater visibility and involvement of management. The general benefits offered by the video surveillance are:
The operators can now monitor traffic queues at the gates and it also helps them plan the allocation of equipment around the site, as the cameras monitor what is needed in a specific location. With CP PLUS VMS vOptimus, easily-searchable video archives has proven itself beneficial in many ways. Now when Freightliner receives a claim of a damaged container, operators can simply search video archives to determine whether it was damaged upon its arrival or after. This robust mix of cameras allows operators to track people and containers to maintain safety and analyze efficiency.
