DM College Ludhiana

As healthcare facilities grow larger and provide around-the-clock care, they become more vulnerable to a wide array of security threats. It is up to individual hospital and healthcare organization to decide on the right solution to meet their needs. DMCL chose CP PLUS for their surveillance needs.

Dayanand Medical College & Hospital is located in Ludhiana (Punjab). The hospital has 1300+ beds and is among the renowned medical colleges of the north India. The college campus is spread over more than 20 acres of land. Faced by many challenges to deal with security threats to patients and hospital staff, authorities decided to strengthen the security infrastructure at the campus. The hospital authorities decided to upgrade their surveillance at entrances, wards, laboratories, parameter, parking lot, classrooms, OPD, etc.

A typical hospital faces the following general challenges to its security at its campus:

  • Employee screening
  • Violence
  • Drug theft/tempering
  • Infant kidnapping
  • Outside threats
  • Middleman activities
  • Bullying incidences

Hospitals, their staff and patients face growing security threats.

The security personnel at the hospital were inadequate to keep tabs on the middlemen who take patients to private hospitals by assuring treatment at rates cheaper than standard rates. After receiving such reports, hospital authorities had the challenging task of dealing middlemen's activities on the hospital campus.

CP PLUS team decided to install high-end cameras, which can capture long-distance images, at the two entrances. The team outlined three key security objectives to improve overall safety on campus: a technology-driven solution that will help minimize security personnel and staff; improvement of key performance indicators such as a quick response to potentially dangerous situations and investigative support for litigious cases; and aid in preventing crime in and around neighboring areas to the hospital.

CP PLUS team considered three primary drivers of video surveillance. The first was the ability to control the access to areas that have restrictions, i.e., birth centers, emergency, departments, pharmacies, surgical areas. The second is general surveillance for after-the-fact investigation. The third primary driver was focused more on the medical side of that – the ability to monitor patient activity for security and non-security purposes.

The importance of retrieval of captured video cannot be undermined.

CP PLUS's comprehensive video management software platform provides ability to streamline video management functions and make sense of vast amounts of data collected by cameras from the campus. The powerful, fully integrated video management software captures high-quality video images from analogue and IP cameras, quickly recalls live and recorded video for investigations, and provides a scalable, open platform for future system expansion.

The solution allows the user to view live and recorded video that rely on technology, rather than security staff, to monitor extensive campus grounds. With cameras installed in the campus at all critical positions at the campus, CP PLUS IP cameras deliver high-definition video.

Effective deterrent

The staff and general public behavior has improved and is benevolent now.

Staff protection

The system is very effective in preventing assaults on the staff and verifying claims of misconduct by staff people.

Cost Saving

The Video surveillance system is complementing physical security and works effectively in dark areas as well. This has reduced the requirement of physical security in many areas.
